1036 Does the Thunderbolt 3 to Dual HDMI 2.0 Adapter support active cables?Nov-24-18
The Thunderbolt 3 to Dual HDMI 2.0 Adapter supports modest length active cables. The job of active equalization and cable de-skew becomes increasingly difficult with cable length. Generally, our customers have found that our Thunderbolt 3 HDMI 2.0 Adapter support 30 feet active cables, but not 50 feet cables. The cable length supported varies by vendor and cable quality. Ultimately, you would have to try it.

Is auxillary power required for active cables? The Sonnet adapter provides 55mA @5V (which is the minimum required by the HDMI spec). The RedMere RM1689, which is the ultra low power semiconductor device that performs adaptive equalization and advanced cable de-skew in active cables is "Zero Power Active", meaning that it does not require auxiliary power beyond 55mA.
