PCIe (PCI Express) cards are for desktop computers with PCIe slots. Mac Pro and later Power Mac G5 computers, and some PCs have PCIe slots. PCIe cards can have multiple data lanes for more bandwidth to the host computer. For example, a four-lane card will be designated as PCIe x4.

Professional, external, 4-port SATA II, x4 PCIe card. Each port supports port multiplier functionality at 3Gb/s to interface to multiple drives. One card supports up to four Fusion D400Q, Fusion D500P, Fusion F3, or Fusion R400Q storage systems at full bandwidth.

Tempo SATA E4i

Professional Internal 4-port SATA II, x4 PCIe card. Each port supports 3Gb/sec. In later Power Mac G5 models (with PCIe slots), this card is a perfect match for the Sonnet G5 Jive, a 3-bay internal storage expansion system for the Power Mac G5.

Tempo SATA E2P

External, 2-port SATA II, x1 PCIe card. Each port supports port multiplier functionality at 3Gb/s to interface to multiple drives. Not recommended for high-performance RAID configurations.

PCI/PCI-X cards are for desktop computers with PCI or PCI-X slots. PCI-X cards are the fastest versions (64-bit, 133 MHz) of PCI cards. PCI-X cards work in PCI slots and PCI cards will work in PCI-X slots. PCI-X cards achieve full performance in PCI-X slots. Some early Power Mac G5 and some PCs have PCI-X slots. Power Mac G4 and some early Power Mac G5 computers, and some PCs have PCI slots.

Internal, 2-port SATA, PCI card. 1.5Gb/s. Bootable. Macintosh only.

ExpressCards are for notebook computers. MacBook Pro and some PC notebooks have ExpressCard slots. ExpressCard/34 is a narrow version (34mm) of ExpressCard (54mm). ExpressCard/34 cards will fit in either ExpressCard/34 or ExpressCard slots.

External, 2-port SATA II, ExpressCard/34. Each port supports port multiplier functionality at 3Gb/s to interface to multiple drives. One card supports up to two Fusion D400Q or Fusion D500P storage systems. Bandwidth may be limited by notebook architecture.

Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34

Professional, External, 2-port SATA II, ExpressCard/34. Each port supports port multiplier functionality at 3Gb/s to interface to multiple drives. Supports one Fusion F2, or up to two Fusion D400Q, Fusion D500P, or Fusion F3 storage systems. Supports sustained data transfers to 200 MB/sec.
