Many drive enclosures include a FireWire 800 (1394b) interface, which provides up to twice the data transfer speeds and bandwidth of FireWire 400 (1394a), both critical attributes when working with multimedia applications. Sonnet's FireWire 800 Pro ExpressCard/34 features two 9-pin FireWire 800 ports to satisfy the high-bandwidth demands of video and pro audio applications. Offering plug and play simplicity(1), this card works in ExpressCard/34 and ExpressCard/54 slots, supports all FireWire 800 and FireWire 400(2) peripherals, and features hot-pluggable and hot-swappable device connection with automatic device configuration.
Many drive enclosures include a FireWire 800 (1394b) interface, which provides up to twice the data transfer speeds and bandwidth of FireWire 400 (1394a), both critical attributes when working with multimedia applications.
Technical Notes:
(1) Windows requires installation of driver for FireWire 800 support
(2) FireWire 400 support through FireWire 800 ports requires FireWire 400-to-800 adapter or adapter cable.
(3) Sonnet's FireWire 800 Pro is compatible with all MacBook Pro models. Sonnet's original FireWire 800 ExpressCard/34 is not compatible with 15" MacBook Pro, Model Identifier 2, 2; or 15"/17" MacBook Pro Model Identifier 4,1. Compatible with all other models. Check System Profiler (Apple Menu->About This Mac->More Info) for Model Identifier.
