Fusion Storage Solutions
Sonnet fuses high-capacity disks into the high-performance Fusion™ disk arrays for film and video editing systems, and professional content creation. Sonnet Fusion systems are based on cost-effective SATA storage devices, which yield no compromise in either performance or reliability. From the industry’s fastest 4TB quad-interface Fusion 400Q, to the uncompressed-HD 1080i-4:4:4-capable, 8TB Fusion D800RAID, and Fusion R800RAID Sonnet has a solution for you.
Video Editing Optimized
RAID (4:4:4)
Although a Sonnet Fusion 800RAID system's drives can be configured in RAID 0, 1, 4 (DV RAID), 5, 10, 50 and JBOD, a RAID 5 configuration features advanced data streaming–a technology that maximizes the number of concurrent video streams while protecting valuable content should any drive fail. The Sonnet PCI Express RAID controller, featuring ATTO RAID technology, is based on the latest-generation Intel® IOP348 RAID Processor, which can handle 10-bit uncompressed HD 1080i 4:4:4 with ease. The Sonnet RAID controller is also configured with 256MB of ECC-protected RAM, especially important to maintain data stream writes as the disk array nears capacity.
Fail-Safe Protection
Sonnet Fusion D400RAID and 800RAID systems not only protect against any single drive failure, but also provide rapid recovery time. A Sonnet Fusion D800RAID-4TB, -6TB, -8TB, can be rebuilt in 2, 3, or 4 hours, respectively. Should you choose to rebuild in the background, you can continue to work at reduced bandwidth with compressed HD streams.
The Sonnet Fusion RAID series is available in desktop systems configured with a 2, 3, or 4TB, 4-drive Fusion D400RAID, or a 4, 6 or 8TB, 8-drive, Fusion D800RAID or Fusion R800RAID.
Enterprise/RAID Edition Drives
Sonnet Fusion systems feature only Enterprise/RAID Edition hard drives*. After hard drives are deemed good enough for desktop system, they are subjected to up to eight hours of additional testing to check for soft errors, vibration, and other reliability predictors. Only the most sturdy drives pass these tests. These stalwart drives are outfitted with special RAID-optimized firmware and become the building blocks of a super-reliable Sonnet Fusion system. These drives are backed by a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.
Ultimate Flexibility of a
Quad Interface
The Fusion D400Q and R400Q include a Sonnet-exclusive quad interface design for these four-drive desktop and 1U rackmount systems, available in 2-, 3-, and 4-TB capacities. Connect with a single eSATA cable and access all drives at full speed. Connect via a single FireWire® 800, FireWire, or USB 2.0 cable, and connect to all four drives at the maximum speed of the respective interface. There is no need to reformat when changing from one interface to another, whether configured as RAID 0, 1, 10, or JBOD. Sonnet Tempo SATA PCI-X, PCIe, and ExpressCard/34 host bus adapters support both these Fusion systems.
Swappable Disk Drive Modules
Sonnet Desktop and Rackmount Fusion systems feature interchangeable, swappable disk drive modules.
Swappable Fan
All Sonnet Desktop (“D” model) Fusions have a swappable fan module that uses an ultra-quiet fan, which is 80% quieter than a standard case fan. This Sonnet fan noise is only 20 dBA, much quieter than the desktop computer—such as a Mac Pro—that the Fusions are designed to stand beside. Sonnet fans use a double ball bearing design for extended life.
Portable RAID Storage
When you need to travel light, choose a Sonnet Fusion F2 portable SATA RAID storage system. Providing up to 1TB of storage in a small enclosure, Fusion F2 uses eSATA connections to deliver the fastest performance yet from a 2-drive portable storage system, with data transfer rates up to twice as fast as FireWire®. By connecting Fusion F2 through a SATA host adapter like Sonnet’s Tempo SATA ExpressCard/34, your notebook’s FireWire 800 port is left open for use by an AJA® Video Systems ioHD, which requires dedicated use of FireWire bandwidth. Fusion F2 is cool, quiet, and energy-efficient: side-by-side placement of its drives increases the metal case’s cooling surface area, thereby eliminating the need for a fan, and allowing it to be bus-powered so it can be used even when no grid power is available. Fusion F2 uses a novel method to power itself; it draws power from your notebook’s FireWire port using an included FireWire-to-power cable. Whether your notebook is plugged in or running off its battery, Fusion F2 operates anywhere your computer does. Another FireWire device, powered hub, or Sonnet's optional World Travel Power Adapter can also power Fusion F2, if necessary.
