Nearly 30 Years of Hi-Tech Industry Experience

Sonnet Technologies Inc. is a leading provider of Thunderbolt™ 2-to-PCIe® card expansion systems; pro media readers; RAID storage systems; and storage, network, and other interface cards for pro users in the audio, video, and broadcast industries. Sonnet’s Thunderbolt expansion products enable the use of pro audio I/O and DSP cards, pro video capture and transcoding cards, network and storage interface cards, and other high-performance PCIe cards with Thunderbolt technology-enabled computers. For nearly 30 years Sonnet has pioneered and brought to market innovative and award-winning products that enhance the performance and connectivity of Mac®, Windows®, and other industry-standard computers. Sonnet is headquartered in Irvine, California, the most dynamic concentration of technology and engineering south of Silicon Valley. The company's portfolio of products includes:

Thunderbolt

Working closely with Apple® and Intel® in the development and certification of Thunderbolt technology products, Sonnet has developed numerous pioneering solutions ranging from expansion systems for PCIe cards and full rackmount expansion enclosures, to Thunderbolt docks, adapters, and storage devices:

Award-Winning Thunderbolt 2-to-PCIe Card Expansion Systems
Available with one, two, or three PCIe card slots, Sonnet’s Echo™ Express line of Thunderbolt 2-to-PCIe Card Expansion Systems provide users the means of using professional PCIe cards, originally designed for use in desktop tower and server computers, with any Thunderbolt-equipped Mac or PC, including notebook, mini, and all-in-one computers. The Echo Express SEL and Echo Express SE I each support a single card. The Echo Express SE II supports two cards. Echo Express III-D (desktop) and Echo Express III-R (rackmount) systems each support three cards.

Rackmount Expansion Enclosures for Mac mini and Mac Pro®
Sonnet’s innovative xMac™ mini Server and xMac Pro Server are space efficient rackmount solutions with built-in Thunderbolt 2-to-PCIe card expansion for Mac minis and Mac Pros, respectively. The xMac mini Server securely mounts a Mac mini inside a 1U rackmount enclosure and connects two PCIe 2.0 slots, enabling users to harness the power of full-size, high-performance PCIe cards. The xMac Pro Server securely mounts a Mac Pro horizontally inside a modular 4U enclosure, connects three PCIe 2.0 slots, and provides space to install additional equipment via optional Mobile Rack Device Mounting Kits.

Thunderbolt 2 Dock
The Echo 15+ Thunderbolt 2 Dock enables the connection of multiple devices to a central hub, in turn connected to the user’s computer with a single cable. On the outside, the Echo 15+ features four USB 3.0, two 6Gb/s eSATA, one FireWire® 800, one Gigabit Ethernet, two 3.5 mm audio input, two 3.5 mm audio output, and two Thunderbolt 2 interfaces. The dock includes the user’s choice of a DVD Burner, a Blu-ray™ disc player, or a Blu-ray disc burner optical drive. The Echo 15+ even provides the space, mounting support, and 6Gb/s interfaces for one or two internal SATA drives.

Thunderbolt Adapters
With the need for access to high-speed wired networking increasing, Twin 10G and Echo Express SEL 10GbE adapters provide the necessary 10 Gigabit Ethernet connections over Thunderbolt. The USB 3.0+eSATA Thunderbolt Adapter and USB 3.0+Gigabit Ethernet Thunderbolt Adapter connect one USB 3.0 port, plus either an eSATA port or Gigabit Ethernet port to Thunderbolt technology-equipped computers. For the pro video user, our single-slot Thunderbolt Pro P2 Card Reader and Thunderbolt Pro SxS™ Card Reader deliver fast footage ingest speeds over Thunderbolt. The Sonnet DX Thunderbolt Adapter enables Avid’s Media Composer|Nitris DX and Media Composer|Mojo DX high-performance digital I/O and monitoring products to work with select Thunderbolt-equipped Mac computers.

Multi-Slot Pro Media Readers

With the need for high-speed ingest of media cards for varying Mac and PC workflows, Sonnet's Qio™ family of pro media readers can read/write SxS, P2, and CompactFlash® (CF) media. The Qio can simultaneously ingest multiple SxS, P2, and CF cards via a cost-effective, high-speed multi-slot interface. The Qio CF4 offers four slots for CF media, while the Qio E3 offers three slots for SxS cards. All offer versatile interface configurations through Thunderbolt, PCIe, or ExpressCard/34 connections, and are equipped with eSATA controllers for the connection of other media readers with eSATA interfaces.

Pro Storage

Sonnet's Fusion™ line of pro storage systems comprises portable, desktop, and rackmount solutions. The mobile four-drive portable unit features a ruggedized drive enclosure designed for any workflow environment. High-performance and cost-effective desktop attached storage with advanced RAID controllers provide up to eight drives with excellent expandability and RAID reliability. For high-end workflow sharing, rackmount 16-drive/16-port/16Gb Fibre Channel shared storage systems offer great flexibility and mass storage.

Performance Extending Computer Cards

For desktop and notebook users, Sonnet offers the widest range of ExpressCard, PCIe, and PCI/PCI-X computer cards extend the capabilities of these machines with such enhancements as 6Gb/s SATA, FireWire® 800 & 400, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, WiFi 802.11g, 10 Gigabit and Gigabit Ethernet, and memory card readers. Our latest computer cards include the Tempo™ PCIe 3.0 SSD, Tempo SSD Pro Plus, and Tempo SSD, cards that enable users to add high-performance SSD storage to a PCIe slot, with no cables or enclosures necessary.
